The Level 2 Joinery and site carpentry qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification. This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a Site Carpenter within the construction industry.

Our one-week course is ideal for beginners and those who wish to fine tune their skills in a particular area. It is made up of stand-alone modules so you can decide what to do and in what order.

You will develop your confidence, improve practical skills and develop techniques in carpentry,  develop wider skills including problem solving, team building and communication, learn from experienced industry professionals, improve your knowledge and prepare for work or self employment.

Those with experience in construction or woodworking may achieve a level one certificate in one week. Beginners may require the two week course.

You will cover:

  • How to use woodworking tools safely
  • How to construct woodworking joints
  • How to construct a frame from these joints
  • Select suitable fixings to carry out carpentry work
  • Measure, cut and install architraving

 

 

Our two week course which can also be accessed as funded if you are 19+ and claiming state benefits is ideal if you are thinking about working as a carpenter and joiner or associated trade such as kitchen fitting or bench joinery. You can complete stand-alone modules that can then be used to work towards a trade specific qualification.

You will develop your confidence, improve practical skills and develop techniques in carpentry,  develop wider skills including problem solving, team building and communication, learn from experienced industry professionals, improve your knowledge and prepare for work or self employment.

You have the option to take a Level One Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery.

You will cover:

  • How to use woodworking tools safely
  • How to construct woodworking joints
  • How to construct a frame
  • How to install skirting boards using internal, external and scribed mitres
  • Install door furniture (hinges and latches)

 

This enhanced course is a great introduction to the construction industry and will enable you to choose your own modules from a range of areas including bench joinery, site carpentry and a range of joints for different applications. It is ideal for beginners with little or no construction experience.

You will develop your confidence, improve practical skills and develop techniques in carpentry,  develop wider skills including problem solving, team building and communication, learn from experienced industry professionals, improve your knowledge and prepare for work or self employment.

Four weeks will give you plenty of time to fine tune your skills, make a product or piece of furniture and start the foundations for more experience carpentry & joinery such as cabinet making or shop fitting.

You will cover:

  • How to use woodworking tools safely
  • How to construct a range of joints
  • Install architraving, skirting and door furniture
  • Install mortice locks, night hatches and overhead
    & hidden door closers
  • Undertake basic carpentry repairs
  • Undertake a project to construct a table and
    learn to engrave

Our three week course is ideal if you are thinking about working as a carpenter and joiner or associated trade such as kitchen fitting or bench joinery. You can complete stand-alone modules that can then be used to work towards a trade specific qualification. In week three you can specialise in an area with the guidance of our experience trainer and make a product or piece of furniture.

You will develop your confidence, improve practical skills and develop techniques in carpentry,  develop wider skills including problem solving, team building and communication, learn from experienced industry professionals, improve your knowledge and prepare for work or self employment.

You have the option to take a Level One Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery.

You will cover:

  • How to use woodworking tools safely
  • How to construct woodworking joints
  • How to construct a frame
  • How to install skirting boards using internal, external and scribed mitres
  • Install door furniture (hinges and latches)
