With this qualification there’s no need for any prior accounting knowledge. This qualification will give you a solid background in single entry bookkeeping.
This is a basic entry-level qualification (most students will start at Foundation level). You will develop your confidence, get a good introduction to bookkeeping, gain an understanding of working within bookkeeping, understand what's involved in bookkeeping and accounts and the use of spreadsheet software in bookkeeping and achieve an industry recognised qualification.

You will develop in confidence, develop new skills in accounting, be able to offer potential employers a valuable additional set of knowledge and skills that will be of long-term value to their business and have the right skillset to successfully start up and maintain your own business. You will also achieve an industry recognised qualification.

You will learn finance, accountancy, business and communications skills. You will also develop in confidence, learn about bookkeeping transactions, understand bookkeeping controls, elements of costing, using accounting software, how to work effectively in finance and achieve an industry recognised qualification.
You will cover:
- Understand and be able to use double entry bookkeeping
- Processing of customer transactions
- Processing of supplier transactions
- Processing of receipts and payments
- How to process transactions through the ledgers to the trial balance
